World Mental Health Day 2023

Today is World Mental Health Day! We want to help support this year’s theme set by The Mental Health Foundation that ‘Mental Health is a universal human right’. This is an opportunity to promote awareness of prioritizing mental health for everyone to help create a more compassionate and inclusive society.

The Mental Health Foundation have some excellent resources available on their website to help reduce the stigma associated with mental health. It is important we all strive to ensure the well-being of our family, friends, colleagues and employees, below are some tips to help you support an individual struggling with their mental health.

1. Finding the right space to talk

It’s important to find a space where the person you are talking to feels comfortable and where you can give them their full attention. Somewhere you can have a conversation with no distractions is recommended.

2. Listen and ask questions

Listening is key. Ensure you are facing them, making eye contact and not interrupting. It’s important to ask relevant questions to show you are engaged in the conversation.

3. Show your Support

Asking how you can help or offering suggestions will help show your support for them. They may want help in initiating next steps or simply talking and knowing you are there for them may be all they need for now.

At CLG, we understand the importance of mental health and show an active interest in all our employee’s mental health. We encourage trust and open communication with employees and try to foster a culture of care and empathy at all times

Our Nurse Manager is always available to have a confidential conversation if you feel you are struggling in your role or personal life to help provide some further support.
