Lets get to know our Head of Care Homes, Kirsteen!

Name: Kirsteen Boxall

Job Title: Head of Care Homes

Office: Aberdeen

How long have you worked at CLG?

Over 2 Years now – the quickest 2 Years of my life to be honest! It’s flew!

What is a typical day at work?

Every day is different. Firstly we have a duty to ensure everybody’s remaining availability for this week and next week has been emailed out to each client in their appropriate locations – with follow up calls to check on our lovely clients! After setting a list of priorities, we then refer to all recent job applications. Throughout the morning going into the afternoon, we are busy filling incoming shifts, handling incoming calls and ensuring that all incoming emails are addressed appropriately.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Very varied! In my role, I enjoy attracting new business within all aspects of health and social care: housing associations, supported living and care homes. Developing new and existing strategies for service delivery is a massive part of my role, particularly as we are still new within this recruitment sector. Catch-ups with all our amazing Carers, Support Workers and Nurses are a must – doesn’t matter how tough the job is that day, they always keep me chirpy!

How did you get into recruitment?

Haha – I suppose like the majority of recruiters, you feel that you just landed in it. I was very fortunate following my first job application. Sent my CV in the afternoon, invited to interview that evening, got the job the next day. I was working as a Sales Administrator for a well-known Automobile dealership in Aberdeen at the time, but after a year I knew I wanted more from a job. Always had an interest in the Health and Social care sector, I wanted to expand this further with recruitment – and I certainly got that! It’s not a Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00 job. Healthcare does not sleep and I knew that in order to give the best service delivery I needed to put in the hours to learn quickly, to act quickly. Since starting over 10 years ago, I have been fortunate to progress within the role and build an understanding on processes, policies and regulations, service deliveries and in all honesty – confidence.

What do you enjoy to do in your downtime?

You ask the staff at CLG, when the laptop is off – I’m always on standby. Whether it’s to help with an emergency, an incoming shift, a change of availability, a note of interest to join us. I’m not a believer in leaving things to the next morning. But – I do love watching the rugby in the background. Rarely, but I do enjoy going to gigs at the Lemon Tree (with a timer to check incoming emails on my phone every 15 minutes haha!). Since moving back to Aberdeen, I also enjoy walking along the beach down at the Boulevard either on my lunch or during the weekends. This one is very good in keeping me in-check:-
